The quad-core GPU capability is rated for ATI's CrossfireX designation.  The chipset also uses HyperTransport 3.0, which doubles (over previous chipset versions) communication bandwith between the processor and the GPUs.  The standard socket for the 790FX chipset is the AM2/AM2+, which allows for Sempron, Athlon, and Athlonx2 chips, as well as the next-generation Phenom processor cores.  The 790FX also utilizes Auto Xpress technology, which automatically optimizes settings to maximize performance from the graphics adapters and the CPU.
